Through a review of relevant research and resources, this course will support educators in a process of self-examination around some of the assumptions we may make about the effort our culturally and linguistically diverse students exert, then examine what energizes them to learn.

Course Outcomes
- Understand the difference between effort and motivation in student learning
- Challenge assumptions we have around student effort and motivation
- Reflect on indicators of practices of communicating with and engaging students
- Explore strategies to increase student effort and motivation which include building on students’ interests, experiences, and knowledge.
- Design a plan for increasing effort and motivation for all students.

I thought this course was very informative in developing ways to deal with social and emotional learning for teachers a well as students.
