2026 Nevada State Teacher of the Year Allie John shares how she's sustained 22 years as a K-5 music educator by reclaiming joy in the classroom. She walks through five practices - being authentic, building relationships, capturing meaningful moments, leading from wherever you are, and protecting your spark - illustrated with stories from her own classroom, including a shy student who found her voice through choir. She closes by challenging teachers to focus less on what they teach and more on the experience and belonging they create for students.
