FAMILY AND CAREGIVER ENGAGEMENT AND PARTNERSHIP

In this 15-hour PD course, educators will explore opportunities to increase family and community involvement with multilingual learners (ML) by understanding the five advocacy steps, which will lead to implementing a multilingual learner family workshop.

Course Runs from April 12 to May 17, 2025: 

  • There will be three virtual workshops: 4/12; 4/26 & 5/17 from 3:30 – 5pm ET/CT/PT  

Objectives

In this course, you will:

1.     Ways to increase family engagement.

2.      What scaffolded advocacy, asset-based perspective, and cultural dilemmas are.

3.      How to develop an advocacy and timeline plan to create a multilingual learner family workshop.

4.      The five steps of an advocacy plan.

My only feedback is that the forum was hard to use, since I took several courses, it was hard to place the write work for the right course.

The individual online work was fantastic! However, logging into Zoom seemed to not be effective. When on Zoom, we reviewed everything that had been done in the weeks before, and it seemed to be redundant. There was no new information during the Zoom session.
