Description
Creating a Safe School for LGBTQ+ Students
This 15‑hour NEA Blended Learning facilitated course explores how educators can intentionally create safe, affirming, and equitable learning environments for LGBTQ+ students—especially those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Participants will examine NEA’s Racial Justice Framework, review current research from leading national organizations on LGBTQ+ youth, and engage in reflective and practical activities that strengthen their capacity to support all students.
Through collaborative learning, educators will deepen their understanding of the unique challenges LGBTQ+ students face, the compounded barriers experienced by BIPOC LGBTQ+ youth, and the role of allyship in fostering inclusive school communities.
