Making the Case: Communication Strategies on LGBTQ+ Issues
This 15‑hour NEA Blended Learning facilitated course equips educators and education leaders with effective communication tools for navigating conversations about LGBTQ+ inclusion, equity, and school climate. Participants will explore research‑based messaging strategies, learn how to frame discussions around controversial or sensitive topics, and practice responding to challenging questions with clarity and confidence.
The course provides models and resources for communicating the importance of addressing LGBTQ+‑related bias in schools, advocating for LGBTQ+‑affirming policies, and promoting inclusive educational practices. Through guided activities and reflection, participants will strengthen their ability to engage diverse audiences—students, families, colleagues, and community members—in constructive, equity‑centered dialogue.
Objectives
