
Description
In this course, learners will ground themselves in the principles of an inclusive learning environment and how collaboration with paraeducators, co-teachers, and supports outside of the four walls of the classroom can build an environment where all students thrive.
Objectives
Course participants will develop an understanding of the distinction between special education caseload and workload, recognizing the importance of including collaboration time as part of teacher workload. They will explore effective collaboration between educators and paraeducators to support all students in inclusive classroom settings. Participants will review the principles and key characteristics of inclusive practices, identify six models of co-teaching and examine the benefits of each, and discover opportunities for collaboration that extend beyond the classroom environment.
