CARE: Developing a Systems Perspective for School Organization

Well-functioning systems have all these aspects working together, supporting each other, and aligning so that a change in one reinforces a positive change in the other. Schools that seek to be successful with culturally and linguistically diverse students need to make sure that these parts of the school’s system work well and harmoniously. Developing a “culture of continuous improvement” is one approach to ensure this occurs.

In this course, you will work with a team to identify the root causes of problems and develop an organizing plan to address them. Your team will work with key decision-makers to kickstart change.

Objectives

Course Outcomes

  • Form a team to work on a root cause problem that is solvable on a school or district level.
  • Identify the root cause of one or more issues.
  • Develop a plan to change a practice to address the root cause of the problem.
  • Learn about the best practices of high-performing systems.
