SEL course on Self-Management put things in perspective. I am a task driven individual. I enjoy setting goals for myself and achieving them. The issue lies when I do not know when to pause and take a break. I am learning how to become more flexible. In school, I teach my students to set goals for themselves. I conference with them, set a SMART goal and check in to see where we are in achieving the goal. I teach them that it is ok to reset the goal (need to take my own advice, LOL). The children feel empowered when they achieve the goals they set. These goals were created by them not their parents or teachers. They learned to identify and area of growth, set a goal and worked on the process to achieve it. Every educator should take this course and help our students in the area of Self-Management.
