Description

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) has identified five competencies that are crucial to effective Social and Emotional Learning for children and adults. Social-Awareness is one of those competencies and this course will guide educators through the examination of your personal self. 

Objectives

In this course, your personal social awareness will be explored and tested. You will learn to: 

  1. Ask essential questions of yourself, raise awareness on the impact of your social and ethical norms on your practice as an educator, recognize your personal network of supports, and expand your skills in empathizing with those who have a different perspective from yours. 
  2. Allow yourself to lean into uncomfortable spaces within yourself to challenge your perspectives of diversity, equity, justice and inclusion. 
  3. Explore and strengthen your fundamental beliefs about relationships and connections to move towards living your best life.
